A rainbow is certainly beautiful. Every time I see one I’m enchanted, excited, captivated. Apart from the fact that it’s wonderfully unique in the sky, it’s rich with dazzling superb colours and has charming stories attached to it. That’s why as a child I always wanted to find the end of a rainbow. It’s where a pot of gold was supposedly hidden!
A rainbow can be inspiring. It can uplift one’s spirit and calm the soul. To me, a rainbow is a symbol of God’s eternal love. As someone who finds inspiration in the Bible, a rainbow reminds me that God is caring for me and everyone. It was the sign that Noah received after the flood, when he, his family, and all the creatures he took into his ark, were saved.
A rainbow is a symbol of hope. It can bring comfort and reassurance. Recently a woman emailed me that she had received some disturbing news about the health of a friend’s husband. Upset by the bad news, she felt the need to walk outside her house to try and find some sense of peace and calm. As she stepped onto her front verandah, the first thing she saw was a beautiful rainbow. It was right in line with her front door. Immediately she thought about God’s covenant with His people. God was loving and caring for her, her friend and her friend’s sick husband. Right away the woman’s thought changed. She felt settled. To her, the rainbow was an uplifting sign of hope and assurance.
Next time a rainbow appears in sky, take a moment to enjoy it’s breath taking beauty, and remember that God loves and cares for you and yours.

I’ve experienced the comfort of a rainbow too. Years ago we attended a child’s memorial service, where a ballad from a popular movie was played. The next time I heard it, months later, it evoked all the sadness of that day. We were driving in the country when it came on the radio, and as I looked out I immediately saw God’s answer, something I’d never seen before. A rainbow, and by its side a smaller one, a reflection, moving perfectly in sync as we drove along. I knew God was telling me that right there and then this child was being held and treasured in His loving arms, that in the unbroken link between God and His creation he could never be outside the scope of his Father’s care.

Thank you Julie for sharing your ‘rainbow’ experience. That was a beautlful message of comfort you received. It’s true that none of us is ever out of our Father’s care. A rainbow always reminds me of that. I hope you stop by and leave a comment again. Your thoughts are always welcome.

I love rainbows too!
Once I was feeling very worried about an internal ailment I was suffering from. I was on our boat reading Mary Baker Eddy’s book, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” and happened to glance at a bookmark I was using. It had the statement: “FEAR DISSOLVES WHEN YOU KNOW WHAT IS TRUE.” I thought, “this is either a certain promise or a false hope.” Right then, I looked up and there in the wheelhouse door was a perfect rainbow arching across the bay. “It IS a promise”. I rejoiced. And so it was, as I was completely healed shortly after.
