Spring and allergies do they have to go together?

Spring! It’s a great time of year. Traditionally it’s the season for a good clean up in the house –washing windows, sorting cupboards.  For some people though, the flowering blossoms of springtime bring discomfort. According to the World Allergy Organization approximately 30 to 40 percent of the world’s population suffers from allergic diseases. In Melbourne, a group known as Asthma Victoria provides a daily pollen count  to help hay fever sufferers.

While there are various ways  of dealing with this problem – vaccinations, pharmaceutical drugs, and homeopathic remedies to name a few, there is a drug-free, spiritual solution that I found when I lived in Coromandel Valley in the Adelaide foothills of South Australia.

I loved to work in my garden accompanied by music from a small portable radio.  One day the local radio station began interspersing the music with announcements about whether it was a low-, medium-, or high-risk pollen day. There were also on-air discussions about flowering grasses, weeds and allergy symptoms. A few days later I began experiencing these same symptoms.

Conversations about seasonal ailments have an impact on thinking. Thought and experience are connected. Whatever is cherished in thought about well-being – whether it’s good or bad, healthy or unhealthy, spiritual or material, has an effect on the body. Listening to what I call ‘unhealthy thoughts and fears’ about allergies, opens the door to experiencing them. To maintain good health, such thoughts must be countered with spiritual facts.  Here’s a couple I’ve found helpful.

Spiritual fact 1. In the Bible, Genesis 1:11-12 speaks of a divine Creator who is good and has made everything good – the grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit.  The flowers, grasses, and plants are expressions of the Creator’s beauty. There is nothing to fear from them. Nothing that originates from that source can make anyone sick.

Spiritual fact 2. The divine creator made everyone allergy-free and keeps them allergy-free. Each person was created to be healthy and to remain healthy. Good health is everyone’s birth right.

Such spiritual facts change thought for the better. They eliminate fear and bring reassurance. They are upheld by a divine power that governs thought and experience. Affirming these facts during springtime, and every other season of the year, enables one to enjoy the loveliness of creation and remain comfortable and at ease. I know, because this is what happened to me.

As a result of correcting my thinking and applying the spiritual facts to my health problem, the allergic symptoms ceased.  I have never experienced them again. I have remained permanently free from all springtime complaints.

So, next time Spring arrives, enjoy it. Be confident that the divine Creator is caring for you. Know that there is nothing to fear from blossom or blooms. Expect to be healthy and stay healthy because excellent health is what your Maker wants for you and everyone, all year round. When this is done wholeheartedly, health is sustained and freedom gained.

As you say, it is great to know that people can be well without taking drugs. Once you glimpse the connection between spirituality and good health, a whole new way of thinking – and living, opens up.
