Radio programmes and interview – via Soundcloud

Opening: Hello. I’m Beverly Goldsmith. Welcome to Spirituality and Health Connect – a weekly program full of tips and ideas to help you live a happy, healthy life. Today’s topic is Detox your thought. It’s good for your health.

Over the centuries people have tried to find the “perfect way” to keep the body in tip-top order. They’ve exercised it, followed diets, been massaged, and detoxed the body to achieve good health. While a healthy body is desirable, another area that needs cleansing and revitalizing, is one’s thinking.

CLEANSE THE MIND TO STAY HEATHY AND WELL.

Unhealthy emotions when unchecked, can build up to alarming levels of distress in thought. They can spoil a person’s good nature, destroy peace of mind, and damage health. Here’s an example.

A woman looked back with anger, at an unhappy incident in her life. Her thinking became filled with resentful thoughts, because of what she perceived as the wrong done to her. As a consequence, she turned herself into a “pillar of salt” – that is, she became a bitter person. (The Bible – Genesis 19:26)

So here’s a question. What might this woman have done to get rid of the bitter thinking and regain her good nature and peace of mind? What would you do?

Here are some ideas.

–  Think about enacting a detox plan for the mind. That is, think about ridding yourself of unhealthy thoughts and emotions.

– Clean out corrosive feelings such as resentment. Don’t let them fester in thinking. Scrub such unhealthy thoughts away.

– When taking a shower, think about not just making the body clean, but cleanse away any buildup of disappointment or resentment.

 – If someone’s been nasty to you, don’t allow your thinking to soak in a bathtub of hurtful comments. Mentally pull the plug on them. Let the unpleasant memories flow down the drain – right out of thinking.

USE CLEANSING THOUGHT-TOOLS

To maintain a healthy mind and body use cleansing, spiritual thought-tools – such as comforting, reassuring prayer, or calming meditation. These helpful thought-tools, can free you from unhappy thinking about the past, and promote good health.

Here are some tips .

– Soak your mind in happy, health-bringing, health-sustaining, productive thinking.

– Remember, and be grateful for, the good things that have taken place in your life.

– Liberate your thinking. Forgive and forget.

– Wash away bitterness by following Mary Baker Eddy’s advice in her book Science and Health  “…pour in truth through flood-tides of Love”. P. 201

– Flood your thinking with love, forgiveness, tenderness, and compassion.

– Make room for comforting, calming, peace-encouraging ideas to flow into your thinking.

– Take time each day to “detox” your thought. It’s beneficial. It’s good for your health.
